Explore Eastern China’s Majestic Beauty

Take in the marvelous landscape of Hangzhou and the spectacular mountains of Huangshan in eastern China.

About Your Trip

Discover the awe-inspiring scenery and deeply rooted culture of Hangzhou and Huangshan on this exciting DreamTrip in China. Sail the crystalline waters of Hangzhou’s West Lake, a destination that has influenced countless painters and poets throughout Chinese history for its sheer beauty and historic relics. From atop Leifeng Pagoda, constructed in 975 A.D. on the crest of Sunset Hill, take in the landscapes of the lake to the north, as well as Hangzhou just beyond.

The next day, embark on an unforgettable tour of towering Mt. Huangshan, known for its sunrises, uniquely shaped granite peaks, age-old pines and hot springs. From the cable car carrying you to the summit, marvel at the mountain and its surroundings in all their glory. At the top, enjoy lunch while taking in the breathtaking view. The view downward from the North Sea Scenic Area reveals a mystical ocean of clouds from which the spot earned its name. Also witness the equally impressive panorama at the West Sea Scenic Area before descending the mountain. Back at your hotel, mingle with your fellow DreamTrippers over dinner as you recount the day’s events.

After transferring back to Hangzhou the following morning, settle into your hotel and then partake in a traditional dim sum lunch with tea at a local restaurant. That afternoon, take advantage of your ample free time to explore the city at your leisure.

What we love:
• According to Chinese folklore, the snake spirit Xu Xian was stolen from her mortal husband and imprisoned under Leifeng Pagoda — but they were later united and lived happily together.
• West Lake’s idealized fusion between man and nature is among the most important sources of inspiration for Chinese garden designers.
• Huangshan is the origin of some of China’s finest teas.
• Mt. Huangshan and the West Lake Cultural Landscape of Hangzhou claim spots on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage list.

Destination

Few places in China offer such legendary attractions as Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province. Ancient temples, striking cityscapes and scenic mountain vistas make this region one of the most beautiful travel destinations in the country. Its subtropical climate and world-famous attractions — including Baochu Pagoda, Lingyin Temple, Yue Fei Temple and the bronze, octagonal Leifeng Pagoda — make it an ideal holiday location year-round. Hangzhou’s scenic West Lake is surrounded by temple gardens, pagodas and lush woodlands. This cherished natural landmark has been immortalized in art, literature and poetry since the 9th century. Popular activities in and around the city include sightseeing, cultural tours, lake cruises and visits to nearby tea plantations.

In Huangshan, dense forests cover the towering peaks of the Yellow Mountains, a popular attraction famous for its breathtaking beauty. This extreme landscape has served as inspiration for paintings and poetry for more than 1,000 years. Cable cars carry visitors and local sightseers over the verdant forests that surround the stately mountains. Buddhist temples, mountaintop restaurants, stone steps and hiking spots draw thousands of adventurous travelers from around the world each year. The area is also particularly renowned for its stunning sunsets, thermal springs and high-quality teas, including Keemun Black and Huangshan Maofeng.
